The Odyssey: two thousand and one albums, EPs, and singles from 2001
In honour of Arthur C. Clarke's famous science fiction novel, Stanley Kubrick's film version, the first year of the new century, in anticipation of many wonderful things turning 25, and to flex both my eclectic musical tastes and obsession with music. These albums are not ordered in any hierarchical fashion. This is to celebrate the absolute preponderance

Windy & Carl - Consciousness
Wife and husband team Windy Weber and Carl Huntgren's eponymous duet have released eleven albums as of my writing this in early September 2024. Hailing from Dearborn, Michigan, USA, the couple are one group of many who purvey lush slabs that bridge the by now completely sealed gaps between dream pop, post rock, drone, and revivalist space rock. Starting their collaboration in 1993, this album, wose cover art is a deliberate nod to that Archie Shepp's The Way Ahead

Redhead - Humanized EP and Redhead - Icelandic
Two lovely EPs of five minute techno excellence--almost at its tooliest--from Belgian producer Steve "Redhead" Vangilbergen on Sweden's Zync (an imprint of Diode Music). Despite how relentless these eight tracks are, it never gets obnoxious. While they could scarcely be said to bring much new to the dancefloor, any of these would likely rank fairly highly for this side of techno.
